….talking ’bout my generation….
With an average age of 78, The Zimmers may just be the oldest gigging band in the world,
Formed in early 2007, this video is the result of a documentary by Tim Samuels, who has been all over Britain recruiting isolated and lonely old people who can’t leave their flats or who are stuck in nursing care homes. The full documentary will be aired on BBC TV in May 2007.
Some massive names from the pop world have thrown their weight behind The Zimmers… The song is produced by Mike Hedges (U2, Dido, Cure), the video shot by Geoff Wonfor (Band Aid, Beatles Anthology), and it was recorded in the legendary Beatles studio 2 at Abbey Road.
Look out for the single being released May 21 with proceeds going to a good cause. And check out more photos and info at their myspace.com site:

We run a non-commercial website and monthly club night for all the musicians who worked the NE Club circuit in the fabulous Sixties.
As you featured the Zimmers, I thought you may be interested in this message we recently received in our website guestbook from them.
As you read it bear in mind that most of our members are Over 60!!
It reads:
What a wonderful website. We are glad to see that you youngsters are kicking back and enjoying yourself still! When we were your age we were starting to settle into a rut of thinking we were getting old. Don’t make the same mistakes we did!
We also love your wonderful DO YOU QUALIFY section. Although ours would be ’have you seen two world wars?’ and ’Did you see the paper the morning the Titanic Sunk!’
Ok we may not all be that old! But we’re working on it.
Keep up the wonderful work and loved the press cuttings. Wasn’t it nice when bands could be called nice things like the corsairs.
We’ll have to work harder now we know that you youngsters are coming up and trying to take our throne. We’ll certainly be back for another look soon!
all our love
THE ZIMMERS
