Charlie Goes To Candy Mountain rocks! I first saw it on Youtube when a good friend of mine requested I watch it. I immediatly cracked up as soon as I heard the voices of the pink and blue unicorns. From then I couldn’t stop laughing or watching the vid. I came here to get the lyrics and was very happy with my results. Yay Candy Mountain! =D

Sorry for slow response Bill. I was figuring out the perfect ratio of cocoa to sugar for my flourless chocolate cake. As a science guy, I’m sure you’ll appreciate.

As for why Charlie is a funny video? This is why. The Charlie video makes fun of polyanna style optimists. The 2 squeeky unicorns are portrayed as innocents who believe in the magical, unprovable, the unreal. Our culture is full of these types of characters – and tends to romanticize them and their beliefs.

To believe is enough – it will come true – as in Santa, Field of Dreams, the Secret.

Charlie is a skeptic. These people who prefer fact to magic are seen in our culture as “negative.” Pessimists, we call them. Yes – even bitter.

They are shunned for not believing.

In the Charlie video, we bitter people laugh and laugh at the depiction of the 2 unicorns -all dreamy and gushy. When they hear the leopleuredon speak, they are like people who see jesus on rooftiles, or his face burnt into the toast.

Charlie is the skeptic’s Handbook.
